The acronym ACCESS stands for:
The semester-long internship program provides college students studying marketing, business, journalism and communications with real-world business marketing experience as well as college credits and a stipend payment.
The four students in the program write two blogs a week for each of the four Realtors assigned to them. These blogs most commonly are about residential and commercial properties being offered for sale by the Realtors, but blogs also are written about the government and school system in the Realtor’s main geographic area along with local events and community news and highlights.
The student with the highest SEO (search engine optimization) ranking at the end of the semester wins an additional cash award along with their stipend.
The program was conceived in 2012 by Christopher J. Brown, CEO of Guardian Settlement and RE/MAX Connection.
“We believe ACCESS can be used as a blueprint for similar small business/community college cooperative projects in the future,” Brown said. “Strong and sensible partnerships between small businesses and community colleges can be a silver bullet for many of the socio-economic problems facing our state, and our nation.”
